"Survival of the fittest"
An excellent book by Dr Mike Stroud OBE who accompanied Sir Ranulph Feinnes in 1992/93 on the first unsupported crossing of Antarctic and is a specialist doctor in human endurance. He also competed in the MdS in 1994 and his book contains a complete chapter on his experience and some very useful medical advice - written in lay terms (food, dehydration, equipment etc)
Available at Amazon and other bookshops.
Built to Last

Clive Gott, a competitor in the 2006 MdS, has written an honest and emotional book telling his story about how he completed the hardest footrace in the world in 2006. A 'what it's like' book, not a how-to guide.
Send a cheque (payable to Clive Gott) for £5.50 (Inc P+P) to 15 Toll Bar Way, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. LS24 8JT. Clive will donate £1 to Facing Africa for every copy sold.
